Japanese-Hungarian Partnership Grows Stronger: the New Suzuki Model is Out

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Japanese ambassador to Hungary Yamamoto Tadamichi and the president and CEO of Suzuki Motor Corporation Osamu Suzuki welcomed together the beginning of the Hungarian mass production of the company’s new model, the Suzuki SX4 S-CROSS in the Hungarian Suzuki factory in Esztergom, on the 6th September. The Japanese CEO denoted the Hungarian factory as the “European fort of the company”. According to the speech of Mr. Suzuki in the last 22 years in total 2 230 000 cars have been manufactured here. The CEO cheered for the fact that Hungary has always supported the strategic partnership of the two countries, independently of the current governing party; and that the factory’s Hungarian workers seem to understand the essence of the Japanese manufacturing culture.
The Factory in Esztergom Provides a Living for 30 Thousand Hungarian Families
Osamu Suzuki visits Hungary every year to share some of the “secrets” of the success of the unusual Japanese economic politics with the Hungarian leaders, who try to integrate his advice into the planning of the economic strategies. The Hungarian Suzuki factory provides a job for thousands of people. One quarter of the subcontractors are Hungarians, and the factory provides a living for 30 thousand Hungarian families. In the past 3 years HUF 400 billion worth investments were realized in Hungary by Japanese companies; thanks to them 2800 new jobs were created.
4 Suzuki Models Are Manufactured in Hungary
Although the European car market is still struggling with the recession, Suzuki expects an increase for 2013. According to the plans 180 thousand new cars will be manufactured this year. At the moment 4 Suzuki Models are manufactured in the Hungarian factory: Swift, Splash/Aglia, SX4/Sedici and since September the new SX4 S-CROSS.
