New German and Russian Investments in Hungary

Lufthansa Airlines has had a storage building at Budapest for 12 years, and now they‘ve rented another building from Budapest Airport. The company will employ new skilled airplane mechanics to work in their new, 2000-quare-meter storage of Lufthansa Technik Budapest. With the new ones the number of the company’s Hungarian employees increases by 10 percent.
Fifteen New Mechanics Will Be Employed
The Lufthansa Technik Budapest and the Budapest Airport signed their tenancy contract for 7 years, but it can be extended for another 5 years after it expires. The company mostly does airplane repairs at it’s Budapest subsidiary, for several airlines including it’s parent company Lufthansa, Germanwings, Norwegian and Wizz Air. The company will employ 15 mechanics to work in their new storage. Elmar Lutter, the CEO of Lufthansa Technik Budapest hopes to move in the new storage before the fall season begins. Lutter says future investments are possible as well. Budapest Airport also considers Lufthansa Technik Budapest a reliable partner.
A Russian Investor’s Also Chosen Hungary
A Russian lamp manufacturing company has also chosen Hungary as the most appropriate place for it’s new plant. The factory moves from Russia to Balatonlelle, Hungary. The building of the new plant costs HUF 1.5 billion, and the company will employ 100-150 new experts, which number is expected to increase to 400-600 later. In the 7-thousand-square-meter building the manufacturing is expected to begin at the end of the current or at the beginning of next year. The Russian, yet unnamed investor was originally planning to move to Hévíz, but they finally chose Balatonlelle, and bought the 5.5-ha building spot from the self-government of the city. They got the construction permit in April, and the building started shortly after. Depending on the future success of their new Hungarian plant the Russian company is open for new investments in the country.
